Chinese herbal medicine has been used for over 2500 years as an effective treatment for a wide range of conditions. I offer Chinese Herbal Medicine either as a stand-alone therapy or in conjunction with acupuncture. Chinese herbal medicine works in the same principles as acupuncture by restoring physical and energetic harmony to the body. Individualised prescriptions are created to address each patient's unique presentation. These usually draw on one or more formulae from the classical Chinese herbal medicine texts.
In addition to current symptoms and concerns, a full medical history, and details of current medications and treatments, will be taken at your initial consultation. Tongue and pulse diagnosis form an important aspect of diagnosis and treatment planning. Following your appointment, I create a bespoke herbal formula which will be sent to you within 2 to 3 days.
The herbal prescription comprises several herbs combined together, in powdered form, which can be made into a tea, simply by adding hot water. Herbal medicine may need to be taken for several weeks or months, depending on the severity of the condition, its’ duration, and the patient’s general health. The prescription will be reviewed as treatment progresses to ensure optimal focus and effectiveness.
